Top Note "Frame" Card

It's my 100th Post!!

And to "celebrate" I'm putting up my first tutorial!  I haven't seen this done yet so I'm excited to share it with all of you.  Here is the card I made.  It uses the Big Shot from Stampin' Up! and their Top Note die, Beautiful Butterflies die, and Flourish Texture Plate (all exclusive to Stampin' Up!).

Other supplies include Kiwi Kiss and Rose Red cardstock and ink, Raspberry Tart Designer Paper, Rich Regal Brads, Boho Blossoms Punch, Pocket Silhouette Stamp Set.  Also, do you see the antennae on the butterfly?  Those are made with the inserts of some of the flowers from the Pretties Kit.  I tried to color them with Kiwi reinkers but they fell apart.

Here's how to make the frame.  Start with a Top Note.

Score the center the long way.

Fold carefully on the score line.  Be sure to line up the tips.

Place the folded piece on the SHORT end on the Top Note die.
Line up the center tips, then move the cardstock down to the edge of the die.

Cut with the Big Shot.

Now you have two pieces!

In my finished card, I used the flowers to cover up the score lines.  It was difficult tie ribbon on that point and I'm sure there are other embellishments that would work too.

The Rose Red layer has the Flourish texture on it.  The butterfly and flowers are cut with Raspberry Tart Designer paper.

Plants You Grow In Your Garden Can Be Used As Embellishments!

Capturing and preserving the natural beauty of your garden can simply be done by creating a scrapbook and journal of your memories. Scrapbooking is a great way to preserve these memories and to share them with friends and family members for generation to come. There is no better feeling than to look back at these precious times and to be able enjoy there memorable moments.

Preserving flowers and plants from your garden can be done by drying or pressing them. They can be saved for years to come and can be used as embellishments in your scrapbooking and card making projects. It is a unique way to add your own personal touch and feelings to your crafts.

Small flowers and leaves can be pressed to make embellishments and larger flowers like sunflowers peddles, or leaves can be dried and pressed to create a unique natural background for your scrapbook pages. Other plants like herbs can also be used to add accent when they are dried.

There are many other ways that your preserved plants can be used, like dried flower arrangements, or framed and hung on a wall as a natural wall decor, the ideas are endless your imagination is the limit.

There are many ways you can create a unique, natural scrapbooks that will keep the memories of your gardening experiences alive and to be passed on to members of your family and friends for years to come.

Drying and pressing your flowers and plants is simple to do and can be done with common household supplies that are already available to you in your home.

March is National Craft Month!

March is National Craft Month!  There is no particular way to celebrate except to do some crafting!  Glitter, glue, paper, paint - get it all out and get messy!  Share your creations!

You'll want to check back over the next few days as I'll be posting some items for inspiration.

Here are some ideas of what you can do this month to celebrate!

1.  Make something!

Use the supplies you have on hand to create something new!  It doesn't have to be perfect - just have fun.

2.  Invite someone to join in the fun and make something with you.

This is a great time to share your craft with others.  It's a great thing to do with your kids or your girlfriends.  Invite some people to get together and make cards or photo displays, jewelry or pottery.  Whatever your desire!  We all know someone who has told us they would love to learn what we do.  Or, take your love of crafts to the local retirement center or shelter or home for troubled teens.

3.  Share your creations.

Post a project or some photos to The Crafty Stamper blog.  Others would love to see what you are creating.  Send me the photos or instructions and I'll post it on the website.

4.  Join a group or class.

There are so many opportunities to come craft with me.  Or, if you don't see what interests you, let me know and we'll make a class for you and your friends!  I have some dates for "open crafting" set aside for March for you to come and work on your own projects!

5.  Craft for charity.

This is a great opportunity to use craft for good.  So many charities need items that we can make. I'm collecting cards to send to the troops through different groups as well as donations to the Ronald McDonald House Charities through their partnership with Stampin' Up!

6.  Try something new.

There is a wealth of information available out there for us to learn something new.  Do you have a craft you've been wanting to try?  Just do it!  You can try a new technique you'll see posted on my website throughout the month.

7.  Have fun!

This is really what it is all about.  Take the time to really enjoy the process of creating and sharing that with others.

How do you store your stamp sets?

This is a question often asked so I thought I'd share with you MY way of storing my stamp sets.  I have a cabinet with several shelves.  My husband added more than what came with it so I could store more items.  I keep my stamp sets alphabetical and store them on their sides.  I do separate out Background stamps, Alphabet sets, and 'word-only' sets.  This makes it easy for me to find the stamp set I'm looking for (provided that I've put it back when I'm done!)
